Spring fashion is all about individuality and "daring to wear" whatever it is that YOU feel most comfortable in. Thankfully, Fashion Gurus have given us a few pointers to get us on the right track. Springtime 2010 is taking fashion right back to basics, with "less is more" being the philosophy and "functionality" the signature look of the season. Whether it's Ralph Lauren, Chloé or M&S, cute jackets, khaki dresses, denim pieces, and a plethora of soft pants are the items to be seen in and those which adorned runways across the globe during the unveiling of the latest spring collections. Fashionistas have been quoted as saying that "Frivolity is not cool anymore!" and that in light of the current economic climate people have reevaluated what they think is important and necessary, electing "function" as the new luxury. After all, as we are generally spending more time indoors watching the box and less going out on the town, we have less need for glitzy, glamorous evening attire. Essentially, this season's fashion focuses on real clothes for real people, or more crisp and neutral, with marine blues, leaf greens and soft lilacs forming the base tones, and brilliant yellow and orange shades seeping in as a strong indication that milder weather is on its way. We have to admit that while trends have come and gone, denim has remained a firm favourite and ideal way to dress an outfit up or down. Spring sees a variety of cuts and washes teamed with floaty shirts for a casual daytime look or sexier fitted cuts for instantaneous evening glamour. Bows, feathers and shimmering rock ‘n' roll studs will all help to liven up a plain top or pants, and speak volumes about the persona within. Meanwhile, the "Boy meets girl" look is totally on-trend for the season ahead, with ladies fashion being infiltrated with military-style jackets, check shirts and vest tops, as is the classic rock chick image, emphasized by leather jackets, print tops, fishnet tights and a cheeky piece of lacey lingerie peeking out. Accessories are shifting down a gear too, with the previous sky-high stilettos and chunky wedges being replaced by a cute kitten heel or slim wedge. Our Models, Nikitta and Nikki enjoyed a trip down to the beautiful beaches at La Marina and La Zenia, where they were able to discover the style, comfort and versatility of the new C&A Spring Collection.
